Actually, it's an artifact of the internet. That letter was written at 8.59am
local time on 1/1/2002. So it took 24 minutes to be recorded by the ca
machine. But we are not only 60 minutes ahead on summer time BUT all
our time is 30 minutes extra ahead of sidereal time following some
government decree in the 1930's I believe.
The Digest makes my day these days, I have to say.
