For me that is definitely one of the best features. I know a lot don't like the shutter speed ring in that position, but I do.

I think if it came to replacing my OM system (Blasphemy!), I'd be hard pressed to find a replacement with which I was comfortable. These days I just don't like removing the camera from my eye to locate a top mounted shutter speed dial.

While I like my shutter speed ring mounted on the front of the camera where it is on my OMs, I must say that when one is used to the knob on top of the camera, they dont have to remove the camera from their eye to change it either. When I was learning on my fathers nikons, I had no problem counting clicks. When he bought me my pentax spotmatic, I managed with it just as well.

I do like it at the front though.
