which was made (or used parts) by another company. But, you can also use it
to refer to the fact that the part in question is a part made by the
original maker, and not a 3rd party replacement. In that context you'd say
something like, "I have an OEM hood for my lens" meaning it was made by the
manufacturer of the lens. If you had a generic hood, you might say something
like, "my hood isn't an OEM hood", or "Hood-co is the OEM for the hood that
I use on my Olypus lens". Basically, it all goes back to who originally made
the parts.
