Do what I believe Joel did, put some film in the camera and actually take some shots, that way the film can interpret the 'timing' of events and demonstrate whether they affect image quality. whether you get squiggles on the film or just a dot should tell you something.

Cmon guys,
Too much theory, not enough practice.

Stop by your local Office Depot or other discount stationary,
pick up a laser pointer (they're really cheap now), insert your
135 or 200 Zuiko into your favorite OM, attach the pointer with
masking tape to the lens, mount the assembly on tripod, point
at wall (further away the better) , dim lights and you really can
see for yourself how much difference the various 'cures' make.

No fuss, no bother, no waiting for processing.

WARNING - you may end up trashing or "baying" a cherished 'pod.

If you are very good at discerning when the shaking occurs that may be OK. If not you may trash your tripod needlessly. You could be seeing shake from mirror return, aperture re-opening, or the closing of the second shutter curtain, none of which will affect your picture. It might be better to point your long lens at a bright point light source and take its picture at varying shutter speeds.
