Hi y'all,

Executive Summary: Made a trip to Wyoming and posted some pictures:

Longer version: Mitchelle and I flew from Atlanta to Salt Lake City on September 30th, rented a car, and drove up to Yellowstone Park for a ten day visit. I normally go there every fall for a fly fishing trip but this time, with Mitchelle along, it was limited mainly to sightseeing and photography. I carried the OM-4 (loaded with Fuji Velvia) and the OM-2n (loaded with Fuji Superia 200). My thought was that the OM-2n would be the walking around camera and that the OM-4 would be used mainly on a tripod. As it turned out the weather was unusually hot when we arrived there (highs in the upper 80's) and the skies were absolutely clear. So, part of the time I carried the OM-2n over one shoulder with the 75-150mm zoom mounted and had the OM-4 over the other shoulder with the 35-75mm on it and left the tripod in the car. The 24mm f2.8 was stuck in a pants pocket. That combination sure drew some strange looks from our fellow tourists. :-)

Our flight out was only a couple of weeks after WTC attack. I didn't feel like causing any problems at the airport with security so I left my film in the LowePro with the gear and ran it through the x-ray machine. I carried mailers with me and mailed the exposed film back to a lab here in Atlanta as it was shot. That seemed to work out well as a lot of the slides/negatives were ready to be picked up when we got back into town and the one zap didn't appear to hurt the film. But, guess that may not be an option anymore what with the changes being made due to the anthrax attacks.

All in all it was fun trip. It had been 6-7 years since Mitchelle had been out to Yellowstone with me and it was good to have her and the cameras along instead of the fly rods and waders.

Later,
Johnny
