Am not desperate for the extra 1/2 stop at 50mm. At 400mm, yes !! The 1.4
my father has does seem to be a better lens, tho'. Crisper, cleaner images,
etc. Anyone else care to comment on this theory, or is it more down to
OM-1 - OM-2n differences than the lens ?
Thanks for the input everyone. Any info on the offered lenses will be
welcome, and I will probably end up asking everyone here what it all means

Remember that a swap from a 1.8 to a 1.4 is not necessarily an upgrade. In
particular, a late 'Made in Japan' 1.8 is almost certainly preferable to an
early 1.4, which did not have good balance between center/edge resolution,
among
other things. If you need the extra 1/2 stop though, go for it (preferably a
late 1.4).

Where in the world are you, how much you want, what condition, etc.... ?
Please be kind !! I am fairly new to this list and am naïve as to how much
these things are worth. I know they are nicer than the standard 1.8 50mm as
I have the 1.8 and my father has a 1.4 (came with his OM-1 - lucky ***, he
didn't even know it was a good one. Tried swapping, but he noticed !!)
May be interested, and would hate to see them go to a less grateful home !!!
Also, Multicoated, single coated, etc ?? Anything else I should know ?

problem !! Still be interested in reply anyway. Similarly, anyone else
with an opinion / suggestion on my upgrading from the 1.8 to a 1.4 please
