That's been my experience with this lens (I have the Vivitar version - same
lens) - very useful.

When I was thinking of buying one, someone on the list questioned its
durability, and it is definitely an issue. A couple weeks ago, I dropped it
- in a padded case - from about 3 feet onto a wooden floor. I heard it pop;
nothing seems to be broken, but it looks like the focusing helical popped
out of its track (whatever that means). The front end of the lens is tilted
to one side about 5mm, and gentle pulling and twisting had no effect. Its at
the nearest authorized Vivitar service center now. In comparison, I've
dropped Zuikos in their padded cases before with no damage, and wouldn't
expect any. That's why they're in padded cases;)

So be careful with it.

Mike
