I think you are referring to the PC synchro socket.  It is used with a
manual (non-TTL) electronic flash unit.  The Bounce Grip 2 has a cable
built-in that would plug into this connector.  TTL flash would require a
cable from the TTL socket on the body to the TTL socket on the Grip.
