[OM] yet another "What would you take?"

Shopping at an outdoor equipment specialist (REI) yesterday, 
I overheard a bit of advice given to a novice backpacker
that I sure could benefit from. 

In response to that SAME question, the grizzled 
outdoorsman sales counselor responded, 

"START BY ASKING YOURSELF WHAT 
   YOU CAN SAFELY LEAVE BEHIND"

I'm going to tatoo" that on my brain.
