If the photo-chemists in our audience will forgive my gross
oversimplification, and excuse my several years out of date knowlege, the
film contains both dyes and silver. The silver is removed in processing.
Thanks to the Hunt brothers (that's the texas speculators, not the
manufacturers of chenistry), the film conpanies have been reducing the
amount of silver used in film and paper, although sky-high silver prices are
gone with teh Hunts.

Also, I don't believe a 4 with a 4T circuit board will operate a F280.
Although I don't have one to test, my 4T has two more contacts on the
hotshoe than my 4.

Also, re:tripods, yup, Gitzo's are the best overall tripods, I don't know a
good pro that doesn't have or plan to have one. There is, however, another
light weight alternative for field use, the Tiltall. I've heard the latest
version has been cheapened beyond usefullness, but older versions are often
available used. I have two, the original version with permanantly attached
head from the brothers in New Jersy, and a more recent version with
removable head, from that defunct importer, BKA, I think. I did note that
some camera store in Kansas City had a used one available, from when it was
marketed by E. Leitz. Didn't ask price. I have used mine in strange field
circumstances, often with a Hasselblad, and highly recommend it.
