I have my chrome OM2n (SN 999xxx) right next to me and, yes, it has an
MD badge. I'm sure I've seen others like it too.

Ah, a UK e-mail address.
Did I read somewhere that the versions marketed in Europe had MD badges even
after this had been dropped in the States?

On my June 1982 OM-2(N) brochure, there is an OM-2N with an MD badge. in fact
all my brochures from 1981-83 have OM-1Ns and OM-2Ns with MD badges - I think
I found one picture of a camera without one.

Same for Europe?: e.g. Denmark?

All my OM-2n's, OM-2, OM-1n's, and OM-1 (8 in all) have a silver MD label....

Peter Gilbert's OM brochures site has the OM1/2 brochure from May 78:
OM1 and OM2 without MD designations as far as I can see.
Illustration of old center-weighted shutter curtain pattern.
The filename is:
om1andom2_0977D.pdf
Presumably these are US brochures...?

I don't have any illustrations/brochures of OM2 models from 1976-80 era. :-(

Maybe they varied the labelling from region to region to hinder grey imports.
