Smooth pressure plates are no longer available.
You can make your own out of smooth black paper
I might not even have to be black !
I've used a cut out of black, exposed developed print
and some have used black medium format film wrapper.
I attached mine with double stick tape.
The waffle pattern is apparent in some of my
Infrared photos before I made the pressure plate
cover and used high strength/contrast developers
like HC110 dilution B (3 cc to 300 cc water)
at 24 degrees centigrade.
