hi all, I was wondering if you could give some advice on long lenses. I
have recently had the need for some longer lenses to capture details on
building facades and was curious if anyone had experience w/ the visitor
series 1 3.5/70-210? I got the lens w/ the first OM-2n that I bought at a
garage sale for $50, but have never really used it (I guess out of zuiko
snobbery) and now am in the position to look for something similar in a
zuiko, maybe. one complaint that I had about the visitor was its rather
enormous size and sticky zoom mechanism. I spent some time observing what
focal lengths I used most, but it seemed fairly well dispersed between what
would be an 85mm, 100mm, 135mm, w/ occasional use of the full 210mm. This
suggested that it would be lighter (and most probably cheaper!) to carry
this one lens that 3 or 4 others! I am a little concerned about the image
quality that the visitor gives in comparison to the zuiko - I want the
sharpest I can get! ;)

am I fretting over nothing? should I shut up and keep the visitor, or am I
better off dropping some cash on a zuiko that I can be proud of? any and
all advice is welcome, and please feel free to contact me off-list if
necessary.

thanks!

gries

Out of control spell check? You are referring, I suppose, to Vivitar, not visitor?
