According to the OM2sp manual you should set the aperture ring to
highest #/smallest aperture when using program mode. I would like to
force program mode to use larger apertures and faster shutter speeds by
setting the aperture ring to f8 for example. Kind of like semi-aperture
priority. Is this possible?

I don't *think* it's possible. My experience is the 2SP will show "OVER" i.e.
overexposed rather than correct the shutter after your personal setting.
I'm not betting my Zuikos on this though;-)
Try around with different light conditions and different f stops.
