: Anyway, all this is speculation and deduction based on a few simple
: measurements..... Does anyone have actual spec data on how long the lens
: aperture index pin is supposed to be? And, for that matter, does it seems
: at all possible that the length can be adjusted (extended) without major
: surgery to the lens?

Another option is that the pin is slightly bent and sometimes looses connection
with the camera coupling. This happened a while go to my Zuiko 50mm/F1.2 and all
I needed to do is carefully straighten the tab. You can watch what goes wrong by
opening the back, setting the camera to B, keep the shutter release pressed, and
move the aperture dial.
