 I spoke recently with Ms. Smith Clemens of Olympus and of course posed a
few Zuiko-related questions. She said there are no plans at this time to do
a digital SLR with interchangeable lenses, and if there were such plans in
the future, Olympus would probably want to optimize the glass for the
digital medium. She opined that Olympus simply does not have the huge
installed base of professional users with big lens inventories that mandated
the likes of the D1 and the D30 from those other camera companies. So a
digital camera that can use Zuiko's seems highly unlikely.

FWIW, analog remains a big business for Olympus: Number of Olympus Camedia
digital camera units sold in year 2000 = approx. 900,000
Number of analog (film based) cameras including 35mm and APS sold in year
2000 = approx. 14 million
Cheers,
Larry Fisher
