I think that was Gary R's point: for the rare items we are a significant part
of the population....but I doubt we influence the prices of OM-1s, OM-2s and
50mm/1.8s.
Of course, Gary made the point that it is list members are bidding against
themselves on the rare items. I would like to see the list of, say, the last
four bidders on those rare items and see if that group of people are list
members. I think that's who sets the price on what it is worth (aside from
the obvious fact that the winner sets the final value). The rest of the bids
seem like people hoping nobody else will notice the auction.
