I like the idea. That means there are three important price points
for bidders and sellers - blind bids (i.e. below reserve, below BIN),
informed bids (above reserve once reserve is known), and a guaranteed
purchase.

I can certainly see taking advantage of this as both a buyer and a
seller. If I were to sell one of my 4Ts, for instance, I'd likely set
the reserve at $400, set a BIN price at $650 and start bidding at
$200. If I were looking at the same auction, I could bid $250,
knowing my bid was unlikely to win, but would guiarantee me a bargain
if it did, bid at $400, knowing I was at or over reserve, and stand a
reasonable chance of buying the camera, or pay the $650 if I just had
to have that camera and couldn't stand a week of waiting.
