: I recently made some comments on the 'photo of the week' at www.photo.net
: that an image of a mushroom made by placing the mushroom on a scanner bed
is
: not photography. You'd think I had gone to Florida to make comments about
: the recounts. Whew. If you happen to check it out, I'd like to know what
: you think.

Photography = writing with light. Nowhere it is defined that you must use a
lens and an OM for it (otherwise it would be called OMography ;) A scanner
uses light to produce a digital image. What the photographer did was really
a modern version of the techniques Man Ray used (was he a photographer?) by
putting scissors and other objects on photographic paper and exposing it in
the darkroom.
