West Florida was a republic for a while. The original Lone Star Republic.
West Florida is the Florida panhandle, the pieces of Alabama and Mississippi
that are west of it, and the strip of Louisiana on the east of the 
Mississippi, but north of Lake Pontchartrain, including Baton Rouge.
