We in North Central Texas seldom experience severe enough winters to test certain theories so I took advantage of this week's sub-freezing temperatures. I left my Can-not-an-OM-onet GIII QL17 (all manual RF except for the cds meter) in the car for two or three days to get good and cold, then took it out to shoot. Worked perfectly. Of course the average temperature between the ups and downs was nearer 40 F than sub-zero, and I need to repeat this test alongside my all-electronic T70 bodies...the temp's supposed to drop again this weekend so we'll see.

As I recall when living in Florida one of my T70 bodies got cranky in high humidity - the reflex mirror wouldn't drop and the winder wouldn't advance until I'd pressed the shutter release a second time. Here in Texas the outrageous summer heat alone hasn't been enough to bother my T70s.

The FTbn and OM-1? They don't care. Okay, boiling water might bother 'em a little.

So my question is, any of you experience where a camera that was
electronics dependent had failed where a fully mechanical one didn't?
