I can't remember who suggested a day out where UK members could
meet but
I've seen nothing proposed although a few replied they were interested.
So here's my suggestion and feel free to chip in if you have
any better
idea.
I would say that Oxford makes a viable proposition. It's within
driving
distance for a lot of us and is an interesting place for a walk
and shoot
session.
We could meet one Saturday in the new year, perhaps on 6 or 13
January? Or
leave it for when the weather is milder in the Spring. Something
along the
lines of meeting round 11.00, restaurant at 12.00 and afternoon
visit which
would enable people to be back home at a descent evening time.
Otherwise, we could also plan a day return to Calais via Le Shuttle.
We'd
organise car convoys and share petrol and crossing (round £30
each max. for
a car of 4). Not much too shoot in Calais I'm afraid but Lille
is not far,
and (I've saved the good bit) we could obviously wine shop as
well!
Finally, I would be most interested to follow an Olympus-geared
workshop
somewhere (Jessops have a few like that) and learn from fellow
members about
getting the most out of the OM system. Anybody willing to share
macro photo
secrets?
