Today I am the happiest little zuikoholic ever!!!!

Finally, the odessey is over.

About 5 months ago, I sent my favorite OM-1 (Chrome non-MD original batch OM-1... a beautiful camera in mint- condition now) to the Canadian Olympus service center (yes... they still do SOME OM-1 work in Canada *smile*) for a CLA and prism replacement. The foam had been neglected & ruined the viewfinder. A common problem I should have been on top of, I know... but c'est la vie.

They completed the operation, but forgot to replace the mirror damping foam, so I sent it back again. After this time, they got dirt in the viewfinder lens, so back a third time. Next, they misaligned the ASA dial so 32 acted like 1600 ASA & on down the line. So back a fourth time. FIVE MONTHS for a repair that woulda taken 2 weeks with JH. I can say I've thoroghly learned my lesson. But they did do a beatiful job in the end with a new original prism, new original OM-1 body leather, new viewfinder lens, & complete CLA.

Had the body out this weekend for a full test, shot about 10 rolls. Works beatifully. And I must say, this camera was made to go with the BG1 & QA310. Such a pleasure to get back to my Oly retro roots. It'll be a while before I go back to my 2n. I guess I'm a purist, but I love the manual OM's. My favorite has got to be the 1. I've also got a 1MD, a 2n, and a 101PF. I only wish I had a 3Ti... then I'd be in heaven, but the significant other would kill be if I bought another body. (she uses the 101).

So now I can get back to using my favorite camera at last. C'mon all you Zuik's out there who love the OM-1 like no other OM... It's time to come out of the closet & show all those 4Ti people that happiness doesn't necessaritly mean spot metering and eaten batteries.... :)

Regards,
Mike
