Ha, that has got to be the weakest excuse for buying an MD2 I have _ever_
heard!
If noise is a problem practice rapid thumb winding. Use an OM1n or OM2n
(they have sweeter, quicker wind-on mechs). When I'm at gigs or motorcycle
meets I can wind on and get the camera back up to my eye semi-automatically
in 2 seconds. OK, it's no substitute for autowind, but in many circumstances
you wouldn't trip the shutter during those two seconds anyway. It's cheaper
and lighter (no batteries) but definitely not the Zuikoholic's solution.
