Dear OMnia,

Further to my previous posting, in which I said the Post Office (in
Jakarta) had received and subsequently lost an Olympus 35SP I had
ordered from Holland, I was pleasantly surprised yesterday to be
invited to go to the PO to collect the money I claimed. So, today I
sent a messenger from the office to go and get it, which he did. The PO
would not pay the US$10 shipping cost but they did refund the full
amount of US$105 that I paid for the camera itself. Thay also wanted to
know whether I would want to redeem the camera (buy it back from them)
if they should happen to find it at some time in the future. Of course,
I said yes to that - that's why I ordered it in the first place!

BTW, for those who may be interested, Zuiky-wuiky is still not on
speaking terms and I have locked away my 2S to prevent it from being
put to a use for which it was not intended - at least, not by Olympus.
I'm reduced to whiling away the hours with my favourite PlayStation
game "Fisherman's Bait 2 - Big Ol' Bass" (isn't it a great game?!).

Another thing, what exactly does "LOL!" stand for? I often see it in
postings to the List but can't figure out what it's likely to mean,
other than that it seems to used to express surprise - sort of thing
you might say just before they pulled the switch! I've eliminated the
obvious possibilities, such as Little Old Lady, Lots of Luck, Lawd
O'Lympus! etc. as being contextually challenged.

Two items of graffiti seen recently in a (gents) public toilet in
Jakarta:

"May the Gods of Olympus preserve you from the Indonesian Post Office."

"We aim to please. You aim too, please!"

Regards,

=====
