According to a previous post by John Hermanson (which I saved, of
course!):
Oldest OM-1 (short) pressure plates go in backwards compared to all
other models. Locking notch goes toward latch.
All others, locking notch on pp goes toward hinge. Push until it snaps.

Hope this helps,
Mike

Subject: [OM] Pressure plate question.

Hi all!
I just received a new back for my camera, and I had to replace the pressure
plate from the old to the new back. Only after I removed it, I realised that
it has right and left side.Thank God there is the "family" that will answer
my question :o)
So, here it goes: as you see your pressure plate from its front side, the
screws are not in the middle. We have a big side and a small side. In my
sample, the small side stands higher than the big one. Also, when you press
the plate with your fingertip, it is only the small (higher) side's legs
that move to adapt. Is this normal, or they should be both equally high?
And which side goes to the clipping side of the body? (Sorry for all this
mess about describing sides, but I have no better way to explain which is
which).
Thanks for any help.
Jordan.
