We've had a running pun contest on CompuServe trying to replace the cliched "tack sharp." My contribution is switchblade sharp for zooms, spay sharp for prime ("fixed") lenses.

Now there's a misleading expression, surely? Unless I've misunderstood
what a "tack" is, I have to say that, whilst superficially they may
appear sharp, they're really very blunt, esp. compared to a common
sewing needle or razor blade. In fact, if you had a knife whose blade
had the same lateral cross-section as the point of a tack, you'd be
hard-pressed to cut anything harder than butter with it. Even then,
you'd have to let the butter warm to about 18 deg. C.
