This is a bit late (was out of town and the digest keep piling up). Anyways
I purchased one of these for about 280 from ubid.com. Tom S. can give more
comments on the quality of the scanner since he has used a couple. I think it
is ok for the money -- probably better than the olympus or pol and on par with
the canon 2710.
A comment on ubid.com. They have a horrible reputation. Basically, the comments
on this place are along the lines of if anything goes wrong you are screwed (
check http://www.resellerratings.com/).
The package I received was poorly done (similar to what the comments say).
However, as this was a new item (and advertised as such) and the manufacturer's
packaging was very well done and compensated for ubid's job.
I add these comments because the item was a good buy but want you to understand
the risks.
Would I buy from ubid.com again -- it would be on an item via item basis and
the savings would have to justify the risks.
