Hi all,

Down below, I've written some updates that you might be interested in. Most of this information has to do with Jaap's Wide Angle page, but near the end there are some updates on the Enschede Disaster report page and on TOPE as well:

1-John Foster, the author of the recently released book about the Pens has mailed a picture to Jaap of what supposedly is a new Pen camera!!! I'm not certain whether this is for real or a hoax, as descriptions like "Liquid Cristal Apature" sound fishy, at least (note the amount of linguistic errors, not to mention the questionable technical feautures (what _is_ an LC Aperture ?!?!?!?!)). Whether it is for real, or perhaps a practical joke, I have put the picture up on my web page so the people interested in this could take a look (and perhaps confirm/deny whether the thing will be (or already is) for real, or not). The picture can be found here:
http://www.millennics.com/olympus/techdocs/new_pen.jpg
Also, I have asked for John's e-mail address so I can inform you guys on how to obtain John's Pen book (a Pen FT book is apparently in the makings too).

2-Tony Hurst (who lives in Dublin) sent the following info to Jaap:
"
LP Foto Auction 11 Stockholm
Lot 321 Pen F PRC 100055
www.lpfoto.se
I don't know if this a true fundus camera, but could be worth looking at
"
Apparently some type of "Fundus Pen"(?) has been auctioned in Sweden. Does anyone know anything about this type of Pen camera? Is it perhaps a Scandinavian-only model? If you know anything about it, please send all information to: j.korten@xxxxxxxxxxxxx and to tonyhurst@xxxxxxxx

3-As mentioned before, Jaap will be in Japan from this Thursday (June 1st) until the following Tuesday (June 6th), he will be off-line during those days, so if you order anything from the Wide Angle site during those days, please do not expect a reply before Wednesday June 7th.

4-Jaap snail mailed me a CD-ROM with a first batch of pictures for the collection section on his page! This means that I will soon (today, hopefully) start adding content to these collection pages. Amongst many others, there are several pictures of the M-1, including the 50/1.8 and 135/3.5 M-System lenses. Also, there are various pictures of the golden OM-1n (yes it's a 1n !) with the golden 50/1.4 that Jaap has. Really cool stuff!

5-An order for a 35/2.8 has been placed by Neven Andrilovic from Croatia (although I think the e-mail address is from Hungary?!?) The e-mail address neven.andrilovic@xxxxxxx bounces though. Neven: are you on the list? If so, please reply to me and/or Jaap (off-list). Alternatively, does anyone know Neven? If so, please contact me and/or Jaap too...

6-In total I have seen some 5 additional requests for a 35-80/2.8. I have passed all these requests on to Jaap, but please note that it is unlikely that Jaap will be able to deliver these lenses for less than $1000, as the current yen <-> guilder exchange rate is highly infavourable at the moment, and there are several import duties to be paid over here. Jaap is going to try to see if there is any way to get multiples as a package deal. For all those people that are seriously interested in such a lens, please indicate your maximum amount (off list) to Jaap at j.korten@xxxxxxxxxxxxx and he will see what he can do.

7-The Enschede Disaster report page is almost done, give me another couple of days and it should be there. Over the weekend I've acquired an "El Cheapo" Tamarack ArtiScan 4800 flatbed scanner. The thing only cost me some $30 (new!) and that's about all I can afford right now, so I bought it in the hope to get some acceptable (though not perfect) scans at home without having to go to my parents' house all the time for scanning. Needless to say, the thing doesn't support NT as well as the box suggests, so I'm now searching for a Windows NT (TWAIN) driver for the parallel port version of the Tamarack (AKA Boeder) ArtiScan 4800 flatbed scanner. Their own website (nor driverguide.com, nor windrivers.com, nor driverforum.com) have this driver, but if anyone can help me out here it would be very much appreciated, as at present I can't use the scanner at all.

8-On TOPE 2: I've received 2 more great entries. The stuff I have received so far has the makings for providing an excellent installment of the TOPE page. Great stuff, and there are still a few days left to take some pictures, so keep at it guys!!!

O.k., I think that's all for now.
Over and out!

Cheers!
Olafo
