I didn't have the Leica, but I did have one roll of Gold-100 shot with the
Stylus Epic, the resolution is very good, for some shots they are as good as
any Zuikos I have. But the sharpness may be not (could be due to contrast or
lab printing?) Popular Photography said it has over 90 lp/mm resolution, I
wonder how the Elmar will do.

On the other hand I heard from many people about the AF problem for the
Epic, I have one shot  with subject at dead centre (not small object) but it
focus at the background. I don't know if some sharpness problem was due to
focusing accuracy.
