To all:

The "ILOVEYOU" virus should be especially terrifying to digital
photographers or anyone who's got a collection of photoscans on his or her
hard drive. The virus attaches itself to graphics files (like jpegs) and
wipes them out.

If you HAVE accidentally opened the virus-ridden "ILOVEYOU" e-mail, here's
what you can do to minimize the damage:

1) do NOT open any graphics (or music) files until you,
2) delete the "I Love You" message(s) from your e-mail Inbox, then
2) open "Windows Explorer" -- not Internet Explorer -- and click on "Tools"
in the top toolbar, then "Find", then "Files and Folders".
3) in the search box type: *.vbs ; use the drop down box in the "Look
in" box to find your hard drive(s) and make sure the "Include subfolders"
box is checked; then click on "Find Now" .
4) delete any and all instances of files with the .vbs extension that the
"Find" program uncovers. Empty your "Recycle" bin and reboot.

You may get many "I Love You" messages. Some may be addressed from friends,
colleagues, family or well-known companies. DO NOT OPEN ANY OF THEM!!!!
The virus is also designed to replicate itself and automatically re-send its
message to everyone in an infected machine's address book.

The virus affects Windows machines using Outlook and Outlook Express e-mail
programs. It does not bother Macs or Linux machines.
