John,

I'm not into my own camera repair, even though I'm usually pretty handy myself, so take this with a grain of salt. Everything I've heard about the job of tightening the shoes on OM-2S's and OM-4's leads me to believe that it should not be attempted at home. Too many goodies in tight quarters. If it works OK, I'd recommend just using it until it's time for CLA. John H. has fixed two gimpy OM-2S shoes for me in the course of CLA. Unless you've got a camera to waste to learn on, I just don't think it's worth it.

Hi, gang!

I recently acquired an OM-4 that is in next to new condition and operates flawlessly, but the hot shoe is slightly loose (it jiggles). It works flawlessly with flash, so I was wondering if anybody knows a way that I can simply tighten the shoe. Im pretty mechanically dextrous, so I think I can do it if it doesn't take any special tools or anything. I've never actually taken a body apart.

Thanks in advance.
John
