Walking in the early morning, the sun streaking through the new spring
leaves of the trees, you gaze up in wonder at the beauty of nature, only to
feel a slight squishing under you left foot. Then a familiar aroma reaches
your nose. You stop, look down, and realize that someone has ignored the
pooper-scooper laws once again.
Stop, look, listen.
You continue on your sojourn after scraping your shoe against the nearest
tree trunk, listening to the chatter of newly hatched robin chicks up in the
large oak tree on the left. You move closer, and feel a small "plop" on your
head. You think that a small branch has landed there until you reach up to
brush it off, only to find that it's no branch in your hair, but a baby bird
turd!
Stop, look, listen.
You brush out the mess from your hair as best you can and continue on,
determined to enjoy the day regardless of these minor misshaps. What's that?
you hear a rustling in the leaves deeper in the woods! You walk boldly
through the knee high plants, each having new leaves dripping with sap,
three ovals to each compound leaf, only to find a small black furry animal
with a white strip down it's back and a bushy tail pointed straight up. In
it's fright, it turns around and squirts you good! You run, stinking to high
heaven, and suddenly itching all over too.
Stop, look, listen.
Safely at home. You burn your clothes, and take 17 showers in a row trying
to get the stink off. You start to see little red bumps on your skin and you
wonder why the hell you ever wanted to take a walk in the woods in the first
place.
(just kidding!!!)
