I have no experience on the power supply to the modeling lamp (since I
don't have any OM ring flash), but I know the supply to the lamp is
DC6V (by 4 cells). If you use commercial AC-DC 6V adaptor, there could
be a risk, the output voltage of them are all higher than 6V RMS if
loading is too small. Lamp filament is very sensitive to over current,
they will easily burn or the life will be seriously affected. You
better find a regulated 6V power supply or just use a 6V battery pack
with proper plug which should not be difficult to find.
