Sorry to use the list this way but Dan Lau and I had been having
off-list mailings about our light leaking OM-PC/40's. For some reason
his e-mail address seems to get mangled in a predictable way and, 5 days
after sending, the message comes back undelivered. I am sure he
believes I have ignored his last message. Below is what I've been
trying to send. Are you out there Dan? To the list members: Thanks
for your forebearance.

This is the third time I am sending this message. I keep getting
delivery failure messages 5 days after sending with the problem being
that it is attempting to send to "dla" instead of "dlau". The first
time I thought it was a random error. Now it can't be. Hope this one
gets through finally. I would call your ISP.

Hi Dan,
Good to hear from you again. Yes, my ill-fated experiments. One day
during the summer I had started a fresh roll of film and taped up
various parts of the camera to include the battery check light (at your
suggestion as I recall), the film cannister window and all parts of the
back. I had done this in sections of a few inches and was removing a
section at a time and then exposing the camera to bright sunlight on the
back deck for something like two hours or so between exposures.

It's been so long now that I've forgotten just what happened. I do know
that one sunny day wasn't enough and the next day wasn't sunny so I
didn't finish. Then it dragged on long enough that I misplaced my notes
about which section was uncovered when. Somewhere about then I think
was also when my son had his helicopter crash and things also started to
heat up at work. Since I have several other bodies it was not critical
and, with the end of Fall, I just stopped taking photos

Anyhow, I never got back to it and I need to do it again. As I recall I
had pretty much precluded the battery check light as the guilty party.
I am suspicious of the counter reset tab on the upper right side of the
back. There is a gap in the foam seal there and I think I had at least
determined that the leak was on the upper right since the leak was
showing up mostly on the lower left. Perhaps when I do it again I will
just do a single, simple test of taping over that particular spot and
leaving the camera exposed for a long time.

Does your ever-ready case happen to cover the area of the counter reset
tab?

Trust you are well.
