I just got a 35-70 f4 too, in a package deal, and it sure surprised the heck
out of me! This turned out to be the self contained auto-focusing 35-70
f4, which will turn any OM body into an autofocus camera. It takes 3 AAA
batteries and using its own system of microchip, smoke, & mirrors will
autofocus the lens when you push a button on it. You can read about it at:

A rather ingenious little unit, though I'm sure it has its deficiencies. It
actually seems to do a pretty good job of focusing and does it fairly
quickly.
I've always wanted that autofocusing OM-1! I'll probably keep it for a
while for its novelty, but I really don't need another 35-70 zoom.
