It isn't hard to prove. Just see:

which is reasonably close on dates.
The MC version was first mentioned in an even earlier edition (1984) of
the Olympus OM System Lens Handbook. It was last mentioned in the 10-92
Olympus System Handbook, thus it had an 8 year production run, albeit
over a period when, for the most part, sales declined. Which is why it
is harder to find MC variants of most lenses . . .
