Can I come over and photograph this dark place? Sounds like it might be a
black hole! :-0

Subject: [OM] OT: HP PhotoSmart Scanner ticking me off.

For about a year now I have been using an HP PhotoSmart Scanner
(original model w/ SCSI) and I have just about had it with scanning
artifacts in the shadows, burned-out highlights and its slightly out of
focus scans! At first I tried to be faithful to the images caputered
with my beloved OM equipment (OM content) and only late at night, behind
closed doors with Thunder dog standing guard, manipulted them in Paint
Shop Pro utilizing unsharp masks only. This is attested to by the images
on my home page. (shameless plug <g> ). But enough is enough, no matter
what software I use, no matter how many times I reset the scanner, the
results are disappointing. So I am faced with either further
manipulating the images in the vain attempt to accurately represent the
OM captured images and without intent mislead the viewer or save my
pennies to buy a better scanner. Me thinks I need a better scanner.
Thanks for allowing me the bandwidth to rant this late night. What is it
boy? Who's there?!

This message was posted as a rant and just a rant. No need to start
another thread of which scanner is best. Besides we all know the most
faithful images come from the darkroom, where we only have to dodge,
burn, filter, over/under develop, tone, hand color and otherwise
manipulte our images. Hmmmm, maybe I should spend more time in the
digital darkroom.....

It truely is late at night where I live.
