Chip Stratton asked:

>> I have a T32 with a broken shoe base that I would like to repair. I
understand
I can get the plastic base from Olympus, and a procedure from the OM FAQ, but
there are two gray wires unattached that I need to know where they go. One
comes from inside the flash, and the other comes from the center prong on the
AC adapter plug.

I suspect they both attach to a solder point on the little shoe circuit board,
on a wing of the board opposite to where the brown and white wires attach.

Can anyone give me a definite on that?

Chip,
I haven't seen anyone reply to this , so hope I am not duplicating
a post I missed.
Here is what I have in notes from when I worked on a broken T32.
I have a scan photograph too, although it shows some wires
disconnected!. If you would like a copy email me ** off list ** .

Here is a summary of all leads and connections:

There are three things with wires connected:
1) the T shaped printed circuit board,
2) the U shaped spring (contacts the OM body via shoe frame)
3) the 3 pin high voltage connector (what you call AC adapter connector)

Warning: this connector (3) is potentially lethal if the main capacitor is
still charged ,
but probably has an isolating diode and is likely to have self discharged
if not switched on recently.
*** But take extreme care, or discharge with resistor before touching ****

1) The T-shaped PC Board has three connections:
One edge of the board has two connections (and traces) these
connect to single white and brown wires with the brown wire being
closer to the upper edge (bar) of the T. (Note :This white lead
connects via the PC board to the main (central) flash trigger pin.)

The centre lead (white) of the coax cable goes to PC Board on
the opposite side to where the white and brown single wires connect.

2) The U shaped spring has the screen from the grey coaxial cable connected
to it.
It also has a grey lead that connects to centre pin of the high voltage 3pin
connector.
(this is what you asked about I think) The U-shaped spring mounts
around the base of the "T" of the PC board and has two solder tabs at the
ends
of the U.

3) The High voltage connector has the following three wires
>>>> when viewed from ** THE BACK ** where the wires connect <<<<

                       Grey (connects to spring)
               ----------------------
              | * |
 Green | * * | Red
               ===========

This is based on my notes so no guarantees on correctness especially
as different vintage flashes may be different.

Tim Hughes
