There is indeed a 2.5 and a 2.8 version of this lens.
The 2.8 version is newer and will go to 1:1 without tube.
For the 2.5 you will need a 2xTC (or macro tubes). I heve the 2.5 (49mm filter
version and the Tamron 2xTC (Thanks Gary) I like to wortk with it, but the
mounting of the TC on the lens and the Adaptall mount on the lens or on the TC
is a PAIN!, so If you do not have other Tamrons to use the TC with you might
consider buying an OM mount TC.
