Dear Chris,

You could make your own from parts that you can buy at
Radio Shack. The power pack holds four D-cells (4x1.5V=6V)
It is kind of bulky and heavy. I seldom use it but it was handy for
focussing on non-living insect specimens. I think you'd be better off
making
your own and using either "C" cells or AA cells. If you made it with
size AA cells the pack might be attachable with Velcro to the bottom of
the camera
and you could use a micro momentary on/off switch. The Olympus power
pack has an on/off switch and so does the T10 ring flash.
I think a footswitch (also available at Radio Shack) would be really
handy for switching off the modeling lamps before a flash shot..
I've used an AC 6V transformer in the past that happened to have a plug
that fit both the T10 ring flash and the motor drive. I left the
modeling lights
on for an extended period once and found that the ring flash was hot!
I'm glad that nothing burned out! Be careful, those little "grain of
wheat" lamps
can get hot if left on too long.

Best regards,

Hank Hogan <flzhgn@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

PS
My bug shots are at http://www.netcom.com/~flzhgn/insect3.htm
all taken with 35/70 backwards on Vivitar extension doubler.

I've just purchased a 50mm macro Zuiko f3.5 and I can't wait
to see my new pictures!
