[OM] 72mm Samigon UV-Haze vs. Tiffen Skylight 1-A: which one to keep?

Hi,

Last weekend I sent this message to Gary, Hans and Frank (as I had their
e-mail addresses at my disposition and greatly value their input :) ), but
I'm still not certain what to do, so maybe someone on the list can give a
definite answer. The following is the case:

When I bought the 300mm Zuiko (yep, the one of which I busted the 2nd
element), the shop forgot to include the UV-Haze filter I had ordered with
it. After contacting them a few times, finally last week it arrived. But...
2 days later another one arrived! The first one was sent March 30th (by
surface mail, I guess), the other one was sent May 22nd.

The second one included a note stating that they'd like me to send back the
included filter in case the other one also had arrived. I'm an honest
person, so I'll contact the shop to see how we can best resolve the
situation. However, before I do that, I'm wondering which filter to keep in
case one of them will be returned.

Filter 1: Tiffen Skylight 1-A
Filter 2: Samigon UV-Haze

These filters are fundamentally different (albeit not too much, probably),
most noticeably so, the 1-A has a slight warm tone. I can't tell if any of
these filters is MC or not, i.e. there are no indications for that on the
filter information which is written on the side, and I can't really tell if
they reflect a special colour (such as green), maybe the Samigon has a faint
colour reflection but it's difficult to tell.

Regarding the condition: the Tiffen filter appears to be 2nd handed (it came
in a plastic protective little bag, instead of in a little box), it has a
few greasy smears and a very, very, very faint scratch (much thinner than a
hair, and it can only be seen from certain angles) which undoubtedly will
not show on the pictures. The Samigon filter is NIB. None of these filters
show any sign of having ever been screwed on a lens (although I suspect the
Tiffen might have been used), as the screw threads are still perfectly
black.

Purely based on the packaging I would be tended to keep at least the Samigon
filter. However, what would you recommend me to do based on the brand
(Tiffen seems to be well-known) and the difference in the type (i.e.
Skylight 1-A vs. UV-Haze)? For all clarity, the filter is to be screwed on
the OM300/4.5, and is to remain on the lens at all times (lens protection +
blue veil elimination; the slightly warm tone of the 1-A is not an issue).

Thanks in advance,
Olaf
