[OM] opening an XA

hi -- i see in the FAQ that it's possible to wire up a remote
shutter release to an XA -- it's described in the context of setting
up two cameras for stereo imaging. i'd like to add such a release,
for remote manual control, but my question is this (or rather, are
these) --

    - how difficult is it to remove the top to get at the switch? can
anyone point me at a step-by-step?
    - where should the wires exit the body?
    - i assume this is all necessary, and that it's not possible to use
the flash pins in reverse somehow to drive the shutter release?
(i don't intend to use a flash with the camera.)

also the first roll of film i've run through seems to be overexposed -- not
so much that the printing shop couldn't correct it, but certainly over.
what is likely the culprit? i'll probably just adjust the ASA setting
to compensate unless someone thinks the fix is trivial. i've gotten new
batteries since -- could the old ones be the culprit? the test tone
sounds okay with either set.

thanks for any info...
