Hmmm, then a multi-coated filter would increase the amount of light reaching
your film over a regular SC filter (but by less than 1 0ifference).

==================================

assuming the identical filter, one single coated, one multicoated, the
MC one should transmit more light, yes, and probably a difference greater
than 1%, more like 4%. multicoating is less critical with a filter
because, unless you stack filters, there is nothing in front of the
filter to reflect the reflected light back in the direction of the film,
and hence a filter may reduce slightly the amount of transmitted li light,
but the light reflected back doesn't contribute to flare. filters still
reduce contrast and contribute to flare-- light reflected back from
the front element of hte lens hits the filter and some of it is reflected
back at the lens. thus, it is more important that the insde surface of
a filter be MC than the outer one.
