... on top of all this, with the flash unit in question (Viv 283), the
calculator dial, while only showing ASA 25-400, is hardly difficult to use
above ASA400 - if the reading says f8 at 400 speed, just looking to the next
f-stop on the dial will give you 800, half-way (approx.) between f8 and f11
will be 600 etc.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry...

Let's say you know the correct f/stop for ISO 100 film. You therefore
automatically know the correct f/stop for EVERY OTHER FILM SPEED. You
don't need a calculator for that.
