Question (somewhat OT):
I do mostly prime-focus astrophotography, but every now and then I will
piggy-back my camera on my scope with a Zuiko 135 / f/2.8 and also a Viv.
Ser. 1 70-210 / f/3.5 zoom. I have the Vari magnifinder, and a Beatie
Intenscreen which come in hand for prime focus shots, but I can usualy find
a star to do focus with a hartman screen. Out of curiosity, what do you do
to determine exact focus (fine focus) with the stars when using a camera lens?

Another question:
Is the performance of a fixed lense vs. a zoom lens significantly improved
for astrophotography? I don't think I'm experienced enough to distinguish
the performance difference - even for daytime photography, for which I use
the zoom almost exclusively. What should I look for if there is a difference?

Yet another question:
I definately want crisp, and vivid photos - daytime or astro - and I would
LOVE to buy Zuiko exclusively, but the price is generally beyond my means
:). I bought the Vivitar that I currently own because I heard that the
Series 1 lenses were pretty good - by someone I know, who worked for
Vivitar. I am in the market for a wide-angle zoom lense. I have a Zuiko
28 / f.28, but I would love to have a zoom lense that I can get for less
than $200 to cover the 28 - 70mm gap. I go to airshows a lot, and the
static displays are very hard to frame with the 28mm - I always have to
move around and such to get the framming. I am considering the Series 1
28-105mm, and am wondering if any Oly users have comments about this lense,
or would suggest that I stay with Zuiko lenses.

Dan M.
