I'm not sure sheer sharpness (tongue-twister, anyone?) is the be-all and
end-all for portraits - I wouldn't take one of my mother with the sharpest
lens on the planet and Fuji Reala - far too much detail to be flattering,
the quality of any softness and the colours might be more important, as well
as film choice.

Cheers

Hello, and thank you for your interesting test. In my opinion the
Zuiko 50/2 macro is an outstanding lens. I usually use my Leica M3
+ 50/1.4 Summilux when taking photagraphs of my children. Last week I
discovered that the Zuiko macro wide open was clearly sharper than
the Summilux stopped down to F2, at least in the 1 - 2 m. range. Now
I am beginning to use the Zuiko macro also for portraits.
The SC 85/2 Zuiko that you tested was probably the old version with
6 lense-elements, the newer version has only 5 (I do not know if it
is any better).best regardsMikael von Numers
