Hey, these are good suggestions.  And a good idea to try to pry others out
of our knowledgable membership.  Wish I had a good one to offer. How about:
If you're trying to meter in low light using 'slow' film in an OM-1, you
may need to turn the ASA dial up to a higher film speed to get the meter to
register (after first opening the lens up to maximum aperture). Then you
can recalculate your exposure time by adding a stop of exposure for every
doubling of the ASA from the true film speed. Don't forget to also account
for reciprocity failure, depending on film, (AND put the ASA dial back!).
