Snip!
It's called DEMAND FLOW MANUFACTURING.

Snip! Beleave it, all manufacturers are doing it with low demand items

 >Or do they mean when enough dealers grovel and beg they will begrudgingly

Snip!
YES, they will hold orders as long as they can, cost just as much to build 3
as 1.

<<I wouldn't be surprised if the whole OM line, including the Olympicosinas,
were built that way. >>
Snip!!
Olympus manufacturing, probably never sees the new 2000. This is not an
Olympus product, it is a BUY OUT with OLY's name on it, no big deal, what do
you expect for $299. If you want a good new camera, buy a 4TI.

<<This doesn't mean that you can't walk into B&H and pick up some of the
above. They list several, and unlike Smile and Cambridge, they actually
carry what they list. Paul Farrar >>
LAST & BIG SNIP ! & THE GOOD NEWS !
Olympus is a big company and by giving us a 3Ti and 35-80mm zoom and the new
2000 these last few years indicates that they will stay in the manual SLR
business for a while longer. This was the number one reason I decided to stay
with OLY 3 or 4 years ago and complete my "system". We as OLY users are lucky
that there is OR WAS quite a bit of good used equipment on the market. But
that will change, and from indications I have seen these last 6 months -
SOON!!
We should all thank B & H for keeping OLY alive, Yes they do stock what they
sell. If it were not for this AVENUE to the market. Olympus would be dead
here in the USA. I for one would have changed to NIKON if I could not find a
source for new Oly products 4 years ago. No company can survive without an
avenue to the user and I think this is where the members of this list could
help ourselves.
WE SHOULD INVITE OLYMPUS MARKETING TO ATTEND THIS LIST DISCUSSIONS. (Although
not the last two days!). We should also be beating up on our local camera
stores to start stocking some Oly SLR product. I got a quote yesterday
locally and he was less than 50ver B&H and he pays shipping. Not Bad! How
many times do we ask our local dealer to order something for us? B&H is not
cheap, I bet our local dealers can live with the margins to compete B&H if
given the chance. (No, I'm not a dealer)
When is the last time an article was written about Olympus 3Ti or 4TI in a
photography magazine. Any writers on the list?
When and IF Olympus marketing and the dealers see $$'s are to be made in the
manual SLR business, then we will see new Olympus products in our local camera
stores. If not, then we will have to use what we have collected and smile.
