In one word, "yes." To pick on the "capitalist" line of thought, Olympus is
not a democracy and our complaining about the availability of cameras and
accessories will do nothing. If their costs have not gone up and they have
instituted price hikes, shame on them and I am wrong. My original speculation
was that their production costs have gone up, not only because of lack of
demand but also to retool for digital cameras. Buying retail, and to a lesser
extent, buying used, will continue to support the system. Without our dollars
(or yen), they will simply drop this product line. I hope that this has not
already happened in that they've already made this decision and are just
gouging us for the remaining stock on hand.

I hope my rantings have not caused you undue concern. I plan to keep on using
Olympus equipment (unless I go blind or nearly so) as I could never duplicate
my collection in N*k*n or C*n*n without thousands of dollars in cost. I'm
going to buy more used bodies (and maybe new one) if the present ones break
(hasn't happened yet.)
